RIYADH, 20 December 2006 — Riyadh Schools for Boys and Girls has added to its academic services the American high school diploma program. The English language department of the institution has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting this program under the supervision of General Director Abdulillah Al-Musharraf. The new program is aimed at upgrading the student’s mastery of the English language. Full attendance, sociological skills and ability to accomplish tasks are some of the basic skills a high school diploma student is supposed to master. The graduates of the program demonstrate preeminence when they come to lead teams and work with groups. The new program is a track that students can join after completing their intermediate school. After they go through the admission requirements, which mainly stress their language fluency and aptitude, students start their school by studying various topics that use English as a medium of instruction, except for the Islamic studies and the Arabic language. More precisely, 10th grade students study Holy Qur’an, Islamic education, Arabic, English, math, physics, biology, computer science and physical education. Besides, Riyadh Schools offers the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) program to students so that they can follow up more or less the same curriculum that would enable them to blend it with the American educational system. This program also familiarizes non-American students who are planning to pursue higher studies in the United States with the system and enhances their adaptability and suitability for admissions. The SAT program is introduced with the aim of preparing students for SAT-1 and SAT-2 over a period of three years. |
