JEDDAH, 29 September 2005 — The Women’s Welfare Society is holding its first annual dates festival at the Equestrian Club on Saturday. Under the theme “Don’t Hesitate, Come and Choose”, the fund-raising event will feature a variety of dates from the best stores in the Kingdom as well as sweets and bakhur (frankincense) of the highest quality.

“Fifteen stores from different Saudi cities known for their quality dates are participating in this festival,” said Huda Al-Khudari, director of public relations at the society. The organizers, who are enthusiastic about this novel idea of fundraising, expect around 500 ladies to attend. The event opens at 5 p.m. and runs till midnight. Tickets are sold at the door.
