RIYADH, 16 December 2004 — Saudi Arabia will acquire 80 rescue trucks from an Italian company. The vehicles will boost the capability of the Civil Defense Department.

The trucks will be delivered to Riyadh by the Italian subsidiary Brescia Antincendi International (BAI) of the US-based Oshkosh Truck Corporation in a staggered schedule beginning in July next year.

“We are very proud to provide this equipment to the Saudi Arabian Civil Defense,” said Robert G. Bohn, chairman of Oshkosh Truck Corporation, the parent company of BAI. “This contract emphasizes our reputation for building high-quality, customized fire and rescue vehicles,” Bohn added. The trucks will supplement the Civil Defense helicopter fleet.
