JEDDAH, 16 November 2004 — Authorities of King Fahd Hospital in Madinah got the shock of their lives when they discovered that the Saudi teenager who offered to donate one of his kidneys was mentally ill. The hospital authorities were happy when the young man made the offer and made arrangements to remove the kidney after conducting necessary tests. After the operation, the youth’s father came to the hospital and asked them why they removed the kidney of his mentally-deranged son. He threatened to take legal action against the doctors who performed the operation. The father said his son has been under treatment at another hospital in the city. |
