JEDDAH, 27 October 2004 — Ramadan and Eid Festival, which starts next week at various locations around Jeddah, will be bigger and better than last year, according to Prince Faisal ibn Abdul Majeed, head of the festival’s higher committee.

“Jeddah city will play host to over 40 entertainment activities to present a new kind of excitement and showcase a carnival atmosphere,” said Muhammad Al-Yamy, media coordinator of this year’s Ramadan and Eid Festival.

He told Arab News that this year’s festival is different and aimed to bring joy and excitement to residents and visitors.

“We have put together an excellent combination of activities including an entertainment village, family entertainment, sporting activities, religious lectures, poetry sessions, traditional and folklore and heritage programs, auto racing, theatrical events and various other exotic stage performances at various amusement parks,” he said.

Al-Yamy pointed out that visitors to the Northern Corniche will witness a spectacular laser display and fireworks.

“The fact that we are now putting on this festival for the third year is proof that it has become an established event. We have increased the activities and attracted representations from more private and government companies,” he added.
