MADINAH, 12 August 2004 — A Saudi man decided to deny water to one of his wives. He said she did not use water carefully and wasted too much. The man went to the government office, which issues water bills, and asked which of his two wives was wasting water. The employee told the man that he could not answer the question. As a result, the man ordered that the water in both wives’ houses be cut off. He claimed that the guilty wife would surely be the first to complain. The office employees then told him that this would not be proof of guilt. The man then left the office. The amount of the bill? Only SR60!
