Jeddah municipality soon to improve emergency services
Muhammad Humaidan I Arab News

JEDDAH: The Jeddah municipality aims to increase the efficiency at which emergency services respond to urgent calls, especially those from women who are being harassed.

There have been numerous occasions of operators receiving calls from those who need emergency assistance and inaccurately recording vital information such as addresses.

The municipality is currently working with the Traffic Department, Civil Defense, police and the Red Crescent to rectify this.

Special training will be given to call center advisers who receive calls through the toll-free 940 emergency number at the municipality’s call center, with particular focus given to recording details accurately, said director of customer service at the Jeddah Mayor’s Office Muhammad Qattan. Their period of training will be three months.

The 940 number allows the public to make complaints, inquiries and discuss other citizens’ issues with the municipality’s operations center.
