IISJ celebrates 40th Annual Day

JEDDAH: The students of the International Indian School, Jeddah, who topped the Grades X and XII examinations of the CBSE, were feted at the Annual Day function at the boys section auditorium recently.

Sameer Al-Hakeem, director of private and foreign education, was the guest of honor and Indian Consul General Sayeed Ahmed Baba was the chief guest.

Officiating Principal Syed Masood Ahmed welcomed the guests and highlighted the achievements during 2008-09.

In Grade X, Blessy George topped by securing 94 percent among girls and Hammad Yusuf stood first among the Indian schools in the Kingdom with an impressive score of 95.4 percent.

In Grade XII, Mariyam Siddiqui secured first position among the girls and also topped in the school with 93.4 percent, while Harish Sudhakaran Nair secured 92.4 percent and stood first among the boys. The consul general in his speech congratulated the achievers and lauded the role of the teachers in achieving such excellent results.

Special recognition of achievements and services were accorded to the principal and teachers, Nejjar Kutty and Shamsunnisa.

A colorful cultural program by students of both the girls and boys’ section was held. One part of the program saw the boys arranging themselves as the UN logo and then conveying numerous messages that the world body stands for — re-emphasizing the universal appeal for peace and harmony, coexistence and value for human life. Farhadunnisa, the vice principal (girls section), proposed the vote of thanks.

The dignitaries who were present included Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yami, undersecretary, Jawazaat, Shakeel Ahmed, consul (education) & observer of International Indian School, Jeddah, Cyril Tigga, outgoing consul commercial, Abdul Malik, higher board member, and Salah Karadan, chairman of managing committee and management committee members.
