AL-JOUF: A child of unreported age was found dead in a parked car with locked doors and windows in Al-Jouf yesterday. The cause of the death was determined by police to be heatstroke.

A man had left his child in the vehicle when he went inside a shopping center. He returned later to discover his child dead. The age of the child is not known.

In a statement issued yesterday, Capt. Atallah Al-Qaran, official spokesman for the Civil Defense Al-Jouf, warned the public against leaving their children locked inside cars in the heat of the day.

It is not known whether the man was charged with criminal negligence.
