JEDDAH: The “Sultans of Science” exhibition thrilled 1.2 million visitors to the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center in Thailand.
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn opened the “National Science and Technology Fair 2012,” a traveling exhibition from UAE.
Plodprasop Suraswadi, Thai Minister of Science and Technology, joined Pichai Sonchaeng, President, and Thanakorn Palachai, Vice President, of the National Science Museum, and exhibition creator Ludo Verheyen, CEO of MTE Studios Dubai, at the opening ceremony.
Sonchaeng said, “We are delighted with the response of our visitors. They were captivated and excited to learn about new scientific innovations. The ‘Sultans of Science’ exhibition was a great success. It teaches how innovation and technology invented in the Golden Age of Islam plays an important role in everyday life.”
Ludo Verheyen, CEO, MTE Studios said, “We are honored our exhibition was hosted at the National Science and Technology Fair 2012, the nation’s largest expo on science and technology,” he said. “We are overwhelmed with the number of people who visited in just two weeks.
The global traveling exhibition includes more than 50 multi-media exhibits highlighting how Muslims worked in harmony with people of different races and religions across Africa, Asia and Europe.
It brings to light the remarkable contributions of Muslim scholars in science and technology.
The exhibit shares how thinkers from this era influenced architecture, the arts, astronomy, engineering, exploration, flight, mathematics, medicine, optics and water control, and all through a beautifully designed journey back through time.
The ‘Sultans of Science’ tour premiered in New Jersey and enjoyed huge success at various North American venues. It will be hosted next in Malaysia at the Petrosains Discovery Science Center.
